12-16 July: CEDRIG Training in Nicaragua

The workshop is organized jointly by SDC’s networks for Disaster Risk Reduction and CC&E. The course is part of SDC’s commitments to the subject of CCA and DRR, whose importance has been confirmed in the Swiss Parliament’s Message on International Cooperation 2013 - 2016. The purpose of the course, in addition to raising awareness of the importance of integrating DRR, CCA and E in development initiatives, is to train the participants in using the guide and to set an agenda for applying it to programs and projects supported by SDC and its partners in the different countries. 8-12 September 2014: Workshop 'Promoting climate resilient development within SDC programs in East and Southern Africa
The SDC East and Southern Africa (OSA) Division periodically organises thematic workshops in order to exchange experiences and further develop the competencies of its staff in different topics. Sub-Saharan Africa has been identified as being particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change such as extreme weather events like droughts and floods. Climate change impacts development and threatens to reverse human progress. In order to address this growing challenge, the SDC OSA Division organizes this year’s thematic workshop on how to mainstream Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) into development projects and programs.
The general objective of the workshop is thus to make the participants more deeply familiar with climate change, its causes, risks and possible implications for development cooperation and humanitarian aid with a particular focus on the East and Southern Africa Region and consequently how to mainstream climate change and DRR into projects and programs.
