New online trainings on Anti-Corruption & Fragility and Political Economy Analysis

​We are pleased to inform you about two upcoming training opportunities:


Corruption in fragile and conflict-affected states, U4 Anti-Corruption Resource Center

3-week, expert-led course. Understand why and how approaches to anti-corruption in fragile and conflict-affected states (FCAS) require tailored and alternative approaches. This course is designed for development practitioners, public officials, and civil society activists working across all development sectors who work in or are preparing to work in FCAS.

Political Economy Analysis in Action, The Policy Practice and ODI

 

Political economy analysis (PEA) is about understanding the contexts - global, national, sectoral and local - in which development and foreign policy happen and the incentives that determine how the relevant actors behave and interact with each other. The course is designed to equip participants to identify the challenges arising from political economy features of the contexts in which they work, and to draw well-grounded conclusions for policy, strategy, or programme design and implementation.

The online training comprises 9 interactive sessions spread over 17 weeks.

About the course

How do citizens hold authorities to account? This short course will help you understand the strategies of citizen-led accountability, and how to improve the design, legitimacy and appeal of your accountability-claiming work in the context of international development.

Course aims

To equip you with the tools to design, support or implement strategies that enable ordinary or marginalised citizens to seek greater accountability from individuals or institutions holding power.  

You will share mutual learning and make connections with a broad range of other accountability practitioners, enabling you to develop your own approaches. 

 

Who should attend

Donors and programme designers, civil society practitioners and leaders, government officials, social and civic tech innovators, engaged researchers and evaluators interested in accountability solutions from a range of sectors, including the delivery of health and education and other services, environment, gender and economic justice, climate change, electoral reform, among others.

Online Course: Political Economy Analysis in Action

Dear Network Members

The Policy Practice and ODI will run the next Political Economy Analysis in Action online training course from 4 September 2023 – 16 January 2024. 

You will find all relevant information in the course flyer.

What is the course and who is it for?

Political economy analysis (PEA) is about understanding the contexts - global, national, sectoral and local - in which development and foreign policy happen and the incentives that determine how the relevant actors behave and interact with each other. The course is designed to equip participants to identify the challenges arising from political economy features of the contexts in which they work, and to draw well-grounded conclusions for policy, strategy, or programme design and implementation.

 

By the end of the course, participants will understand:

  • What political economy analysis (PEA) is, and the different operational contexts in which it has a role;
  • How it can be used to improve foreign and development policies and engagement;
  • What tools and frameworks are available for PEA and how they can be applied.

     

    Participant requirements:
    The online training comprises 10 interactive sessions spread over 19 weeks, with 5 Reading Weeks. We estimate that 40+ hours are needed to complete the course, or about 4 hours per week.

SDC Kyrgyzstan: Team of consultants for final project evaluation

The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in Kyrgyzstan is looking for a team of consultants for a final evaluation of the second phase of the Public Service Improvement (PSI) project implemented by the consortium of Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation and the Development Policy Institute (DPI). The current phase of the project will be completed in July 2024. Online training course - The Political Economy of Climate Action

​The Policy Practice is launching a new, online training course on the Political Economy of Climate Action.  The interactive course explains how political economy analysis can be applied to the challenge of action on climate change and how thinking and working politically can lead to more effective engagement in country settings.

The course will consist of seven, 2-hour, online sessions from 5 June to 28 June.

Evaluation à mi- parcours Programme Participation citoyenne et Prévention des conflits(PCPC, phase 2, 2020-2024)

L'objet de l'évaluation consiste en une appréciation des résultats obtenus et des défis de la 1ère phase au regard des résultats attendus du PCPC, les analyser, tirer des leçons et recommandations d'ajustements et proposer des options stratégiques pour la phase 2 du programme. Les soumissions d'offres sont attendues jusqu'au 23 avril 2023, à 23h heure locale, soit GMT+2.

L'évaluation sera faite dans les 3 pays Rwanda, Burundi et Sud-Kivu (RDC), du 15 mai au 09 juin 2023.
