Welcome to the ddlgn work space
stands for the
thematic network on democratisation, decentralisation and local governance
of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation SDC.
This site serves a double function. - First
, it is a repository of relevant information for members of the ddlgnetwork and partners.
, the site offers a virtual platform for knowledge exchange, joint learning among and peer support for registered network members.
The topics covered by the network are divided in four categories:
Promoting the sharing and control of power and enhancing peoples voice and participation as intrinsic to their wellbeing.
Creating conducive space for participatory decision making and for more accessible and responsive State institutions at subnational levels.
Providing the analytical methodology and instruments for a systemic political perspective and for addressing power issues.
Implying a systemic approach to work and focusing on the quality in the management of public affairs and the exercise of power.

Fragility and conflict
The overall aim is to capitalize on experience from DDLG programs in fragile contexts through collaborative learning and knowledge sharing, to establish shared understanding on possible approaches and guidance on the planning, implementing and monitoring of DDLG programs in fragile contexts.
Inclusive land governance
The two SDC networks Agriculture and Food Security (A+FS) and Democratization, Decentralization and Local Governance (DDLG) conducted an exciting Learning Journey in Land Governance 2016. Together we share findings and evidence based recommendations for SDCs interventions.
The topic of Civic Engagement has figured high on the ddlgn agenda for some years now. Experience capitalization, E-discussions and learning events have helped network members to build a joint understanding of the underlying concepts and theories and to share and reflect on own experiences and practices.
