Some reflections extracted from the fishbowl exercise on Wednesday morning:

Through dlgn, there is a big potential of communicating both strong messages and contradictions.

The network allows for exploring new methods and new ideas. What is very important is that through networking, there is a great potential of visualizing abstract notions and making them present in our daily live. Dlgn also allows for communicating our inner dimension to the collective dimension. Networking is about emotional involvement – that is what makes it successful. It is important to create and visualize our collective identity as a network.

Networking is about reflection and moving away from daily implementation. There is a need to use the spaces and tools for networking in order to make sure that we are accomplishing the aims established.

Additional initiatives for sharing on dlg issues are starting to take place in different regions. In the Balkans, CoOfs and partners are starting to build a peer exchange space on issues of decentralization and local governance. One of the challenges is to ensuring the commitment of management to networking, not only by providing opportunities to staff to engage in peer exchanges but also in the allocation of resources. The tensions of working in a vertical structure and transforming it into a horizontal structure should also be addressed.
