Carried out by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), El Agua nos Une – SuizAgua seeks to influence water governance through four Lines of action:
- Corporate water stewardship in 5 countries: Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile & Brazil.
- Community of Practice on water management in Latin America.
- Strengthening instruments of Public Policy, I, in Colombia.
- Investment on eco-systemic services in Colombia: “miPáramo".
“Agua nos Une" operates as a public private partnership that identifies and tackles water related risks, evaluates and reduce the water footprint in productive processes; and motivates companies to improve their water management. Simultaneously, Agua nos Une encourages/supports the implementation of public policies that analyze the use and the control of water pollutants, as well as the preservation of strategic ecosystems. At the global level, the initiative is pertinent as part of the Response to the priorities established in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), in particular goals 6 & 12, as well as with the OECD's declaration on green growth and the interest of the Pacific Alliance (Alianza del Pacífico).
There are concrete efforts towards gender equity and the encouragement of the participation of young people throughout the project (cross-cutting components).
