Fragilities, conflicts, violence and human rights violations are among the biggest obstacles to development and peace. SDC's work in fragile and conflict-affected contexts seeks to achieve transformational and systemic change by addressing root causes of fragility, such as marginalization, exclusion or discrimination. By doing so, SDC aims at strengthening social cohesion, reducing inequalities, ensuring that no one is left behind, fostering lives without any forms of violence and promoting human rights and rule of law. It involves adopting a conflict-sensitive approach that avoids negative impacts - which could exacerbate conflicts - and maximizes impacts for positive changes and sustaining peace.
