SDC Global F2F Health Meeting

Karin Gross, SDC HQ Bern

Last year, the SDC Health Network organized a Global F2F Meeting Health from 6 - 9 November 2017 in Versoix/Geneva. Three years after its last global gathering in 2014. More than 70 people from SDC cooperation offices and HQ, other federal offices, NGOs and experts participated. The global gathering aimed at contributing to make SDC’s health engagement fit for the ambitions of the Agenda 2030 but also for current regional epidemiological trends, transformations of national health systems, global health challenges, as well as current global and national health policy debates. The global F2F meeting provided an excellent opportunity to share experience and generate ideas to adapt SDC’s bilateral and global health engagement to these trends, and to explore potential and existing Swiss comparative advantages in health. Moreover, the meeting aimed at enhancing the leverage of national and regional evidence at global policy level – and vice versa - by establishing a synergistic, mutually beneficial link between bilateral and global initiatives.

A visit at WHO as part of the global gathering allowed for an exchange with experts from various international organizations based in Geneva on health system strengthening for UHC, on sexual and reproductive health and rights and on non-communicable diseases.

The F2F Meeting provided an excellent opportunity to exchange, discuss and to strategically reflect on all these issues. The reporting containing all presentations, video messages from the key speakers and participants, a summary report and some visual impressions on our Global F2F Health is available on the homepage www.globalf2fhealth.ch and also on our SDC Health Shareweb.
