We have created a number of tools and resources to help social entrepreneurs start and progress on their journey toward gender inclusion. These include:
- Gender Mainstreaming Workshop: an online course to help you get started with the concept of gender mainstreaming and discover opportunities within your organization
- Gender Mainstreaming: Deepen impact and improve sustainability: a collection of best practices and examples of gender mainstreaming in different areas of the organization
- Library of key external content: a collection of third-party resources content providing even more insights, ideas and case studies related to implementing gender mainstreaming in an organization
Below you can find more details and links for each resource.
Despite all the progress made, many structural inequalities still persist that limit women’s (and men’s) access to employment, products and services. By recognizing that individuals of different genders have different needs, preferences and constraints, organizations can discover untapped opportunities for impact and business growth.
This training has been specifically designed for social entrepreneurs and impact-driven organizations that want to improve their impact (and business results) by being more gender conscious and inclusive. Through 3 modules, you will discover your gender biases and reflect on their consequences for yourself, your team, and your organization’s work. The training also helps you look at your venture’s strategy and operations with a “gender lens”, and identify concrete opportunities to embed gender mainstreaming practices in a way that generates value for your venture.
The training is available online as a self-paced course, in both English and Spanish; each module includes a variety of videos, resources, tool and practical exercises. It can be taken by anyone, but for maximum effectiveness and impact we recommend the involvement of your leadership. At the end of the training, you can pass a simple quiz to receive a certificate of participation!

To help social entrepreneurs dive deeper into the many forms gender mainstreaming can take within an organization, we have put together an online resource called “Gender mainstreaming: Deepen impact and improve sustainability”. This online resource covers 9 sections, corresponding to the most common strategies to incorporate gender mainstreaming into an organization. Each section provides a brief overview of why that strategy is important and what are the best practices related to it; for most strategies there is also a case study from an entrepreneur who successfully implemented that best practice, for inspiration.

We also put together a rich but practical library of resources to help you navigate your gender-mainstreaming journey. It contains a variety of written or video content from reputable external sources. The library is organized into 3 main thematic clusters: staff diversity, product/service design and delivery, and supply chain. Under each area there are 2-4 more specific topics, for a total of 10 specific gender mainstreaming topics.
For each topic, the library includes:
- Key recommendations: a summary of key take-aways related to that topic
- Key metrics: examples of indicators that could be adopted to measure an organization’s performance on that topic
- Short articles: brief introductory readings on that topic
- Kwoledge pieces: longer content and deeper insights on that topic
- Case studies: relevant practical examples and best practices related to that topic.
You can browse through all the categories to get inspiration, or take a deep dive into the areas and topics that are more interesting and relevant to your organization.
