Smartphone applications to improve children's health

New technologies are increasingly changing healthcare. The Swiss TPH has developed a next-generation digital point-of-care systems to help clinicians diagnose and treat sick children. To further improve diagnostics, The Swiss TPH has developed a rapid test tool, ePOCT (electronic Point-of-Care Tool), funded by the Swiss Program for Research on Global Issues for Development (r4d program). ePOCT not only guides health professionals in the consultation, but also integrates laboratory rapid tests for bacterial infections and serious diseases (low blood oxygen, anemia, low blood sugar) as well as a rapid malaria test.

r4d programme is a joint funding initiative by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). The r4d programme supports research aimed at solving global problems with a focus on least developed, low and middle income countries.
