Summary of the findings

Summing up, a gender focal point has to play its role at institutional level, at thematic level and regarding the policy environment.


At institutional level the following points have been mentioned to be important:

  • management commitment and personal motivation
  • allocate resources (enough time and budget)
  • gender action plans
  • program support (gender in project, CS)
  • regional exchange and capacity building


Concerning thematic expertise, these issues has been mentioned to be important:

  • capacity building at coof, partner/local consultations, GFP
  • analysis and data > support studies, assessments
  • gender specific projects / lead


And concerning policy environment, the following points has been mentioned to be important:

  • reach out to local stakeholders > CS; government, internal
  • cooperate with UN women and World bank
  • policy dialogue with national gender machineries (Post 2015)
  • provide platforms for dialogue CS – government
  • link to global programs
