SDC's Human Trafficking Strategies and Positions

Switzerland condemns human trafficking as a serious violation of human rights. The SDC is tackling this problem, with a particular emphasis on the CIS and the Southern Caucasus states. The countries here are often states where trafficking originates, or are transit or destination countries. Specifically, the SDC's activities include:

  • educating and raising awareness among secondary school pupils, in particular those from marginalised groups (boarding school pupils and orphans)
  • strengthening national repatriation and reintegration programmes for victims of human trafficking, and also developing international programmes where possible
  • strengthening the capacities of regional networks, organisations and key stakeholders involved in the prevention of human trafficking, as well as in the support, repatriation and reintegration of victims of human trafficking
  • Participating in interdepartmental working groups such as the International Cooperation on Migration (IMZ) and the Coordination Unit against Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants (SCOTT) for a coherent Swiss domestic and foreign policy.
