Save the Date: Financing to ‘leave no one behind’ during the Covid-19 pandemic

Wednesday 14 October 2020 | 13:00-14:15 BST | 08:00-09:15 EDT

In partnership with the DAC CSO Reference Group and Eurodad, Development Initiatives (DI) invites you to attend a virtual meeting to discuss the impact of Covid-19 on the financing and poverty landscape as we look ahead to the DAC High-level Meeting (HLM).

The Covid-19 pandemic is driving significant increases in poverty and the poorest people and places are being impacted hardest. We face an unprecedented global challenge that requires us to come together to call for and deliver action that means people are not being left behind as we respond to the ongoing effects of the crisis and seek to build back better. The DAC High-level Meeting is an opportunity to ensure development leaders strengthen their commitments to ODA – a vital resource to protect and support for the world’s poorest people, and highlight the need for a more coherent approach to global cooperation to ensure effective joined-up responses to crisis and sustainable development.

Discussion points for the meeting

  • A coherent and effective response – How can we achieve greater cooperation and coordination between humanitarian, development and peace actors as we respond to and recover from the Covid-19 crisis?
  • Allocation of aid - How is aid being impacted and are those changes likely to result in the poorest people and places being left behind? What action is required to mitigate this?
  • Timely transparent data on aid – what can real-time data tell us about aid commitments during the pandemic, and what action is required to improve the information we need to respond effectively?
