Panel discussion at the GFMD 2009 in Athens
Intensified international dialogue on migration has brought about a change of paradigm in migration policies. Migration is no longer primarily seen from a national perspective, but understood as a global phenomenon that offers both challenges and opportunities. Multilateral partnerships are key elements to successfully manage international migration and to harness its potential for development. New multilateral fora, bringing together representatives of states and organisations, build bridges between the countries of origin, transit and destination.
It is in the SDC's and Switzerland's interests that this dialogue be pursued at all levels and that they actively participate in it.
