The GFMD Business Mechanism released a new business paper at the 2017 GFMD Summit in Berlin. This paper entitled “Toward a Global Compact on Migration: Perspectives on Labour Migration from the GFMD Business Mechanism” addresses important private sector concerns for the Global Compact on Migration (GCM). The five main policy areas discussed include:1. Leveraging skills mobility to advance global opportunity2. Innovations for migrant and refugee access to labour markets3. Irregular migration and labour market solutions4. Responsible recruitment5. Entrepreneurship and circular migrationThe paper thoroughly addresses these five topics, and provides clear policy private sector recommendations for the GCM. The GFMD Business Mechanism will continue to refine their recommendations that will be submitted at the last GCM consultations on labour mobility and skills development, which take place on 12-13 October in Geneva.The business mechanism is committed to bridge the world of business with labour migration policy makers to ensure that the global migration framework take into account labour market needs.
