From 28 – 30 March 2017, SDC’s Migration Network hosted a regional meeting on protection and decent work in Middle Eastern mixed migration contexts in Amman, Jordan. The meeting gathered actors from various backgrounds, who contributed to the discussions on labour migration, forced migration, protection and decent work in relation to the Syrian crisis, the migration corridors from South and Southeast Asia, North Africa and the broader Middle East including the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and the policy dialogues on migration. The meeting ended with a call to all participants to always keep the “Spirit of Amman” in mind when faced with challenges and opportunities. The „Spirit of Amman“, allows and supports all actors at local, national, regional and global levels to take steps towards improvement because of the attitude to take responsibility, to take evidence based action, to see and use opportunities, to be open to other perspectives and to link global and local realities and interests.
