Migration and forced displacement are global phenomena, but the vast majority of forcibly displaced persons are hosted by Lower- and Middle-Income Countries. Migration and forced displacement put an additional strain on host countries and communities. This can spur conflicts, further discrimination and lead to a loss of social cohesion. Investing in inclusive governance systems in hosting countries is therefore key. In addition, the promotion of sustainable livelihoods and durables solutions for the newly arrived can leverage the potential of migration for sustainable development.
