SDC Gender Policy
Gender-specific inequalities and discrimination prevent equal access and rights to resources, income and decision-making thus constitutes an obstacle to full
and equal participation of all women and men in development. The SDC
Gender Policy, adopted in 2003, thus recognizes gender equality as a key
for sustainable development and poverty alleviation. Women and men have
to be able to develop their potential und make use of their resources
on equal footing. The gender policy defines gender mainstreaming as the main instrument to implement the policy and defines roles and responsibilities. In order to integrate gender equality into the operational work, SDC provides a set of tools and instruments.
