Dear Madam or Sir,Dear colleagues
Institutional reforms addressing constitutional, governance, and electoral arrangements are often part and parcel of peacebuilding processes. National and international actors commit tremendous efforts and resources to help strengthen legitimate state institutions and good governance in conflict-affected contexts. Nonetheless, these reforms face many hurdles and do not always produce satisfactory outcomes.
The new swisspeace Peacebuilding & Institutional Reform course, offered in collaboration with the University of Basel explores both challenges and opportunities encountered. Moreover, it promotes thinking politically about the reforms and highlights their interconnectedness.
This course will take place virtually: Mondays to Wednesdays, 4 - 6 October 2021 and 11 - 13 October 2021, 13h00 – 17h00 (CEST).
Leading international experts facilitate this course:
Dr. Adem Abebe, Constitution Building Program, International IDEA
Maarten Halff, Senior Political Affairs Officer, Electoral Assistance Division, Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, United Nations (Maarten will be speaking at the course in a personal capacity.)
Omar Abdulaziz Hallaj, Independent Consultant, Advisory Board Member of the Conflict Research Program at the London School of Economics and Political Science
