Political Economy Analysis in Action - online training course 2022

The Policy Practice and ODI are running another Political Economy Analysis in Action online training course from 21 February – 24 June 2022.

Political economy analysis (PEA) is now recognised as essential to the design and adaptive management of development and foreign policy interventions. It is about understanding the contexts in which development and foreign policy happen, the incentives that determine how the relevant actors behave, and drawing well-grounded operational conclusions for policy, strategy, programme design and implementation.

Click here to register - early bird discount by 30 November (registration ends 31 December 2021). Please email training@thepolicypractice.com for more information.

The course will equip participants with the tools and the confidence to undertake a PEA, and to apply it to policy and programmes in a wide range of contexts. It will cover ten sessions over a 17-week period, requiring about 4 hours of study per week (with a mix of self-study, online Study Group discussions and tasks and webinars, supported by an inter-active platform).

Policy Practice also offers tailor made support and trainigs, both online and face-to-face based on organisational needs. Offers are:

    • Training courses on a specific theme, for example, the Political Economy of Climate Action
    • Training courses in a regional hub to enable staff from different country offices to come together
    • Post-course 'drill-down' days with individual teams to address specific implementation challenges
    • Shorter tailored online learning for organisations as intensive, interactive live online courses especially designed to improve working with PEA approaches and embed Thinking and Working Politically
    • Facilitated PEA (i.e. working with your team to help them conduct a PEA)
    • Ongoing support to teams and organisations who are doing the up-stream thinking about design and implementation of policy, programmes and strategy; and mentoring for practitioners
