Current Policy Debate
In 2020, the course «Current Development Debate» focuses on the question of policy coherence for sustainable development. The global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are achievable only if international, national and local policies interact coherently. Similarly, the Swiss Development Cooperation is able to realize its purpose only if its measures and instruments aren`t undermined by other policies. SDG 17 calls for improved policy coherence for sustainable development. Is this realistic? What does this mean for the Swiss Development Cooperation`s strategic positioning? The course aims to provide participants with a better understanding of policy coherence for sustainable development and its implications for Swiss Development Cooperation stakeholders.
