Course "Training on advising for dlgn" June/July 2010

A training experience we want to share with you

Dear DLGN-Members,

As members of that thematic network, we are often approached by operational collegues to give advice on conceptual and thematic issues. Often, neighter we as thematic experts nor those who receive advice from us are entirely satisfied with the results of advice giving. For that reason, the DLGN has organised a training on "advising" which was attended by eleven members of the Core Group, from COOFs and projects.

We had expected concrete hints and access to advising techniques, which we got from the trainer Ursula König (Ximpulse), Manuel Flury (WLP) and Adrian Gnägi (DLGN, WLP): e.g. a checklist to clarify different roles, an instruction on how to capitalize experience, or an exercise in "collegal advising". However, we had not expected that we would have ample opportunity to discuss different roles we have to concile (e.g., programme officer and adviser) and eventual difficulties arising from that situation which is given through SDC's reorganisation. All participants were very satisfied with the training they considered extremely useful. Listen to Mona, Corinne and Oksana on their impressions and conclusions:
